WHAT THIS IS
The Lunchtime Heritage Workshop is an interactive experience where participants don't just learn about Singapore's history — they discover it together.
Through our award-winning board game NEXT STATION: The Singapore MRT Game, participants journey across Singapore's heritage landmarks before diving deeper through an expert talk and a collaborative art presentation activity. It's history made social, visual, and fun.
An approved Arts & Heritage programme under the SG Culture Pass.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify key Singapore heritage landmarks and their cultural significance
- Connect Singapore's urban development to its social and historical context
- Appreciate the diversity of communities that shaped Singapore's identity
- Collaborate with peers to research and present heritage content
- Experience heritage not as a subject to study, but as a story to explore
HOW THE WORKSHOP WORKS
1. Play: NEXT STATION — The Singapore MRT Game Participants play two rounds of Singapore's beloved MRT-themed board game, naturally encountering heritage landmarks woven into gameplay. No prior knowledge needed — curiosity is enough.
2. Expert Talk: Hear From a Heritage Specialist A guest speaker shares stories and context behind Singapore's landmarks — the kind of details you won't find on a museum placard.
3. Group Activity: Bring a Landmark to Life Each group picks a Singapore heritage landmark and researches it collaboratively, then presents their findings using flipcharts and markers.
4. Showcase & Debrief Groups present their landmark (5 minutes each), followed by a facilitated debrief connecting the day's discoveries to Singapore's broader heritage story.
